Yo-Zuri SuperBraid

Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Yo-Zuri SuperBraid manufacturer product package

Original SuperBraid Dark Green uses four strands at 10-40 lb and eight at 50-80 lb. This guide keeps that original product distinct from SuperBraid 9 and the metered Five Color range. Verified Dark Green options include 150/300 yards and 600 yards from 20 lb.

Is SuperBraid right for your setup?

Original SuperBraid is a low-stretch main-line option for spinning or casting setups. The lighter and heavier sizes have different diameters and strand counts, so select a strength for your own tackle and fishing. Choose any leader separately, and use the capacity estimate to plan the working braid and backing underneath it.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your SuperBraid strength

The 10-40 lb Dark Green range uses the manufacturer's four-strand construction. At 50 lb the described construction changes to eight strands; do not infer a capacity difference from strand count alone.

The official 40 lb row pairs 0.32 mm with 0.012 inch. The units are separately rounded labels; this guide preserves the source values rather than claiming an exact conversion.

For 50, 65 and 80 lb, check the thicker diameter against the chosen reel. The same strength in SuperBraid 9 is a different product even where the listed diameters happen to match.

Specification-based guidance, not a ReelCalc hands-on performance test. Capacity results are estimates, not measured fills.

Backing, working line & leaders

Choose a supported Dark Green package

The dedicated page lists 150 and 300 yards for 10-80 lb. The official bulk page explicitly adds 600-yard Dark Green packages from 20-80 lb.

Keep metered products distinct

Five Color versions use different package lengths and metering features. Their 330- or 660-yard labels are not substituted for the Dark Green packages in this guide.

Secure and tension the braid

Follow the reel maker's attachment guidance and wind evenly. A coating is not a substitute for a secure base or a firm line bed.

SuperBraid questions, answered

Is all original SuperBraid eight-strand?

No. Yo-Zuri specifies four strands for 10-40 lb and eight strands for 50-80 lb on the reviewed Dark Green product.

Is this the same as SuperBraid 9?

No. SuperBraid 9 has an eight-plus-core construction and its own current package combinations.

Do the listed spool sizes cover all colors?

No. This calculator selection is Dark Green only. Other colors and the Five Color metered product were reviewed but are not silently merged into these package rows.

How much SuperBraid will fit my reel?

Use the exact strength and the reel's published capacity. Pound test is not a fixed diameter, so equal-strength products can produce different fill estimates.

Is one 150-yard package enough?

Only when it covers the planned working length and an appropriate reserve. Backing can fill unused volume, but cannot supply more working line for long casts, deep drops or fish runs.

Specifications & sources

Official sources retrieved September 13, 2026. Both inch and millimeter values are published independently and retained within rounding tolerance. Dark Green 150/300 yd rows plus explicitly coded Dark Green 600 yd rows only. Other color and metered sources retained for identity audit, not merged. Inch/mm source rounding retained; 40 lb 0.32 mm versus 0.012 inch differs by 0.0152 mm, within combined 0.01 mm/0.001 inch display rounding. Package options are not a stock or price guarantee.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
