Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Sunline Siglon PE X8 braid manufacturer product package

Siglon PE X8 is Sunline's eight-strand braid. Its US range runs from thin, light-strength lines to heavier sizes sold on bulk spools. Use the diameter for your chosen strength to estimate how much your reel holds.

Is Siglon PE X8 right for your setup?

Consider Siglon PE X8 when you want to plan a braided working line and select a separate leader if needed. The light sizes can show large capacities on deep spools, making a deliberate backing plan useful. That does not mean the thinnest size is appropriate for every baitcaster or fishing situation.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your Siglon PE X8 strength

Siglon PE X8 20 lb is .0074 inch in the current chart. A different 20 lb braid can be substantially thicker. Reusing another brand's capacity number can therefore waste space or create an overfill plan.

The current US strength list uses 16 lb, not 15 lb, and includes 60 and 80 lb rather than the unsupported legacy 65 lb entry. Keep exact product labels intact when comparing or opening the Wizard.

The upper 60-100 lb entries are verified from 1,980-yard bulk variants. They document the range rather than recommend heavy braid for ordinary light spinning use.

This is a specification-based setup guide, not a hands-on Siglon PE X8 performance test.

Backing, working line & leaders

Match color to the actual package

The 5, 6, and 8 lb 165-yard variants are listed in Orange. Other strengths and lengths have different color assignments. Confirm color on the retailer listing before purchase.

Separate a working section from full capacity

A 165-yard spool may provide a useful braid section without filling a deep reel. Enter the amount you actually want to fish and calculate mono backing for the remaining space.

Treat thin braid carefully

Keep the line under controlled tension during winding and avoid loose buried wraps. Watch for damage and digging-in; a mathematical capacity estimate cannot diagnose line lay or worn line.

Siglon PE X8 questions, answered

Is this the same as Siglon PE X4 or AMZ?

No. This page covers Siglon PE X8. Select the exact model because strand construction and published diameter can differ across the Siglon family.

Does 1,980 yards mean I should fill the whole reel?

No. It is a bulk retail package length. You can still choose a shorter working section over backing when that suits your fishing.

Can the Wizard keep this exact line?

The setup link carries the selected Siglon PE X8 strength and, when chosen, your reel. Review the loaded line and reel before completing the setup.

Specifications & sources

Specifications checked 2026-09-13. Manufacturer chart inch/mm pairs transcribed separately; assigned product code variants verify strength-specific package lengths. Check the actual package when buying older or imported stock. Product imagery identifies the model, not every selectable strength.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.
