Sufix Performance Braid

Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Sufix Performance Braid manufacturer product package

Performance Braid is the Sufix line marketed around Y6 braiding. This source-reviewed U.S. selection uses 100-yard packages in 6, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 65 and 80 lb. It is not Performance Ice Braid or Performance Lead Core.

Is Performance Braid right for your setup?

The verified 100-yard package is the key planning constraint here. It can provide a short working fill, but it should not be mistaken for enough line for every full reel. Check your longest deployment, a fish-run reserve and allowance for trimming before using backing to make that package fill the spool.

Your line. Your reel.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your Performance Braid strength

The current official chart jumps from 10 to 20 lb. Select an offered strength suited to the rod and lure rather than interpolating a 15 lb product that is not in this verified range.

At 20 lb the official diameter is 0.009 inch; at 65 lb it is 0.016. These are separate spool-volume inputs, even when the same 100-yard retail length is offered.

For long casting or deep-water work, capacity alone cannot make a 100-yard working section adequate. Determine deployment and reserve before choosing the fill.

Specification-based guidance, not a ReelCalc hands-on performance test. Capacity results are estimates, not measured fills.

Backing, working line & leaders

Treat 100 yards as a package limit

Enter a working length no longer than the package provides, unless you have a longer independently verified spool. Backing fills volume, but it does not add usable braid for a long cast or run.

Keep the join below working depth

When using mono backing, the connection should remain below the line normally deployed. If 100 yards cannot do that with a suitable reserve, this package is not enough for the setup.

Check the product name

Performance Braid, Performance Ice Braid and Performance Lead Core serve different purposes. Use only the mainline product and diameter shown in this chart.

Performance Braid questions, answered

Is this a lead-core line?

No. This is Performance Braid. Sufix lists Performance Lead Core separately for trolling.

Why does this page use 100 yards?

The current U.S. product page and its strength-specific variants identify 100-yard packages. Older or regional retail lengths have not been substituted.

Does Y6 prove a fixed carrier count for every strength?

This guide preserves Sufix's Y6 technology wording without inferring an unlisted carrier count for each strength.

How much Performance Braid will fit my reel?

Use the exact strength and the reel's published capacity. Pound test is not a fixed diameter, so equal-strength products can produce different fill estimates.

Is one 100-yard package enough?

Only when it covers the planned working length and an appropriate reserve. Backing can fill unused volume, but cannot supply more working line for long casts, deep drops or fish runs.
