P-Line FloroClear

Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

P-Line Clear FloroClear 12 lb FCCF filler carton and matching 300 yd spool
Actual US FCCF 12 lb/300 yd filler package; eBay-hosted photo, production year unestablished. The 10 lb row is a separate 2021 catalog reference.

FloroClear is a fluorocarbon-coated copolymer, not 100% fluorocarbon. This US reference combines a historical 2021 catalog label for Clear 10 lb/600 yd with a photographed Clear 12 lb/300 yd filler package of unestablished production year. It is not a current-edition or stock claim.

Coated copolymer, with package-specific numbers

FloroClear is a coated-copolymer option when you want a continuous main line rather than a braid-and-leader setup. Choose a manageable diameter for the reel and plan a full fill or a fresh working section over backing. Check the exact filler or bonus package against the chart, because the reviewed 12 lb packages print different inch diameters.

Choosing your setup

Choosing your FloroClear strength

The 10 lb and 12 lb entries have different verified package lengths: 600 and 300 yards respectively. Select the strength for the rod and fishing conditions, then plan the working length from that exact package.

A 12 lb FCCBF bonus carton is not interchangeable with the FCCF filler for this chart. Its .0122-inch label remains separate from the filler's .0124-inch label.

The historical 10 lb specification describes a labeled product, not the fitness of any old spool. Storage and physical condition require a separate check.

A source-based mainline reference, not a test of visibility, castability, knot strength, or the condition of older stock.

Backing, working line & leaders

Keep the filler and bonus packages separate

The supported 12 lb working-line budget starts from 300 yards; the historical 10 lb package starts from 600 yards. Do not give the 12 lb filler an extra 300 yards simply because a bonus package exists.

Plan a usable working section

Leave sufficient FloroClear for casts, fish runs, and retying. Backing may occupy unused space below it, with the joining knot kept outside the expected working section.

Treat the coating as construction, not a leader

The fluorocarbon coating does not make this a separate fluorocarbon leader material. Add a leader only when the presentation calls for one and account separately for a long topshot.

FloroClear questions, answered

Is FloroClear 100% fluorocarbon?

No. P-Line identifies FloroClear as fluorocarbon-coated copolymer and describes a silicone treatment. It remains a Copolymer mainline record here.

Why is the 10 lb entry dated 2021?

Its readable diameter and 600-yard label are in the official 2021 US catalog, printed page 9. The source is historical; the entry does not claim current production or availability.

Can I use the 12 lb row for a 600-yard bonus pack?

Not from this evidence. The inspected FCCBF-12 bonus carton prints .0122 in/.31 mm, while the FCCF-12 300-yard filler prints .0124 in/.31 mm. This chart retains only the filler package for 12 lb.

Does the same pound test always give the same capacity?

No. Capacity depends on diameter and how the line packs, not only the strength label. Match the exact product and package specification rather than treating all 12 lb lines as equivalent.

Specifications & sources

The 10 lb numbers come from the manufacturer's official 2021 US catalog, printed page 9. The 12 lb filler values are visible on an actual P-Line carton and matching spool in an eBay-hosted photo, with UPC 015789650070. Official US variants corroborate FCCBF-10 and FCCF-12 identities. Seller prose and retailer diameter tables are not numeric authority. Neither row establishes current edition or availability.

Calculations use the catalog's listed inch diameters. Published inch and millimeter values may differ slightly because of rounding.

  • P-Line official US FloroClear identity Manufacturer construction and exact variant identity context. This page has no line diameter chart; its generic package options do not expand the supported labels.
  • P-Line official 2021 US catalog Historical manufacturer numeric label on printed p.9. Year/US region are part of the specification scope; no current-edition or availability assertion.
  • P-Line printed package label: 12 lb Clear Original third-party-hosted photo; numeric authority is the visible manufacturer's printing. FCCF-12, 300 yd. Photo/production year unestablished. Not a retailer-authored diameter table.
  • Excluded package evidence: FCCBF-12 Authentic separately specified bonus package; cannot combine with the selected FCCF-12 .0124-in/300-yd row without package-specific diameter support in the shared data model.
