Is Braid 8 right for your setup?
Braid 8 is Maxima's eight-yarn main line for anglers who prefer braid's low stretch to a mono setup. Choose a suitable diameter for the reel and enough working length for casts, runs and trimming. The 150- and 300-yard options let you compare a single working fill with a larger supply; any leader and backing have separate jobs in the setup.

Choosing your Braid 8 strength
The lightest US size shown is 10 lb at 0.006 inch, followed by 20 lb at 0.009 inch. A 15 lb braid from another line is not a substitute for either entry.
The 30 and 40 lb diameters are 0.010 and 0.011 inch. Choose the strength for your rod, lure and cover, then check the reel capacity.
The 50, 65 and 80 lb diameters are 0.013, 0.016 and 0.018 inch. These are US Braid 8 specifications; check your label if you have a different regional Maxima braid.

Choose 150 or 300 yards by the working plan
Both lengths are matched to every verified U.S. strength. A 150-yard retail package is enough only if the planned working length and reserve fit within it.
Provide secure arbor attachment
A coating does not remove the need for a reel-approved braid attachment. Use a sound mono base when the reel's smooth arbor needs grip, and follow any braid-ready spool instructions.
Keep unnecessary volume in backing if useful
Backing can fill a deep spool below the amount of Braid 8 you intend to fish. Maintain enough braid above the connection for long casts, fish runs and trimming.

What does Braid 8 refer to?
The U.S. manufacturer describes an eight-yarn round construction. It also specifies Triple Coating Treatment, pre-stretching and heat fixing.
Is Ultragreen Braid 8 the same as Ultragreen mono?
No. The Ultragreen name also appears as a braid color. The mono and braid products have different construction and capacity figures.
Can a regional Maxima braid chart replace these rows?
Only if the exact product and specifications match. This guide uses US Braid 8 diameters and spool lengths; other regional Maxima braids may differ.
How much Braid 8 fits my reel?
Use the selected Braid 8 diameter with your reel's published capacity. Pound test is a product strength label, not a universal diameter. Stop filling at the reel manufacturer's recommended level.
Does Braid 8 require backing?
Use the reel manufacturer's approved braid attachment method. On a smooth arbor, a sound mono base can provide grip; additional backing can reduce the braid needed for a planned working length.
