Gamma Torque Braid
Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Gamma Torque is a Spectra-fiber braid. This guide covers nine solid-core sizes from 8 to 65 lb on 600-yard spools. The 6 lb diameter needs clarification, so it is not included. Gamma's 60 and 80 lb hollow-core lines are separate products.

Is Torque Braid right for your setup?
Torque is a braid main-line option for anglers who want a longer working section or repeated fills from a bulk supply. Choose the strength for the tackle and the amount for your longest casts or deployments, fish runs and trimming. The bulk package can serve several reels when working lengths and any backing are planned separately.
How much Torque Braid will fit?
Calculated estimates, not measured fills. Stop at the reel manufacturer's fill level even if some line remains.

Independently rounded inch/mm values are retained with a precision note for 65 lb; separate 60/80 lb hollow-core variants are excluded.

Choosing your Torque Braid strength
The lightest included Torque strengths are 8 and 10 lb at 0.0065 and 0.007 inch. The 6-lb diameter remains unresolved and is not a calculator option. A lighter braid is not automatically suited to every spinning setup; account for knots, drag, cover and handling.
The 15-30 lb sequence includes 25 lb and spans 0.008-0.011 inch. Compare exact diameters with other braid models rather than treating the U.S. strength label as a mono-equivalent measurement.
The verified solid sizes reach 40, 50 and 65 lb at 0.012, 0.015 and 0.018 inch. Gamma expressly identifies 60 and 80 lb as hollow-core; those distinct constructions are not folded into these solid-core recommendations.
This is a specification-based Torque Braid setup guide, not a ReelCalc hands-on casting, abrasion or breaking-strength test.

Backing, working line & leaders
Allocate the bulk spool
The matched official evidence supports 600-yard Torque packages. Select a useful working length first and plan the remaining line for other fills; bulk capacity is not a suggested reel fill.
Check braid attachment
Use a reel-approved direct attachment or a sound mono base when a smooth arbor needs grip. Additional backing can fill otherwise unused volume below the chosen Torque working section.
Do not infer splicing from the brand name
Gamma specifically identifies the 60 and 80 lb versions as hollow-core. This solid-core subset does not inherit their spliceable construction or a hollow-core rigging method.

Torque Braid questions, answered
Why is 6 lb Torque missing?
The official 6-lb bulk table prints 0.006 inch / 0.152 mm, but its manufacturer package photo prints 0.002 inch / 0.06 mm. Neither claim is silently corrected; the 6-lb row stays excluded pending resolution.
Can all Gamma Torque sizes be spliced?
No. Gamma identifies 60 and 80 lb as hollow-core. This guide covers a separate solid-core subset and does not promise spliceability.
Why does this page list 600-yard packages?
The reviewed 600-yard product has matching bulk-table product codes and variants. The current 150-yard filler page embeds a 600-yard table, so that conflicting package evidence is not merged.
Why keep both 65 lb diameter values?
The official pair is 0.018 inch and 0.470 mm. Their independent rounding intervals overlap at the displayed precision. Both source values are retained; the metric figure is not presented as an exact conversion of the rounded inch figure.
How much Torque Braid fits my reel?
Use the selected Torque Braid diameter with your reel's published capacity. Pound test is a product strength label, not a universal diameter. Stop filling at the reel manufacturer's recommended level.
Does Torque Braid require backing?
Use the reel manufacturer's approved braid attachment method. On a smooth arbor, a sound mono base can provide grip; additional backing can reduce the braid needed for a planned working length.
