Gamma Polyflex
Diameter chart, reel capacity & backing guide

Gamma Polyflex is a copolymer monofilament, not fluorocarbon. This chart uses the Ultra Clear product tables, which distinguish U.S. size from manufacturer-reported actual breaking strength and reduce filler-spool yardage as diameter increases.

Is Polyflex right for your setup?
Polyflex is a mono-style main-line option when you prefer a continuous line from reel to lure. Check the diameter for your reel and compare the package length with the fill you need. Filler lengths decrease at heavier strengths, so a spool bought for a heavier setup may supply fewer refills than one bought for lighter tackle.
How much Polyflex will fit?
Calculated estimates, not measured fills. Stop at the reel manufacturer's fill level even if some line remains.

Choosing your Polyflex strength
At 6 and 8 lb, Polyflex is listed at 0.010 and 0.011 inch, with 330-yard Ultra Clear fillers. Choose strength for rod and cover before comparing how many yards fit.
The verified intermediate sizes are 10, 12, 14 and 17 lb. The old 15 lb catalog record has no matching official U.S.-size row and is excluded rather than being renamed to 14 or 17 lb.
The 20-40 lb sizes grow from 0.017 to 0.024 inch. Large actual-break claims do not turn these into different product code strengths or establish a suitable drag setting.
This is a specification-based Polyflex setup guide, not a ReelCalc hands-on casting, abrasion or breaking-strength test.

Backing, working line & leaders
Read the length on the selected strength
Ultra Clear fillers provide 330 yards at 2-8 lb, 300 at 10-17 lb, 275 at 20-25 lb, 220 at 30 lb and 175 at 40 lb. The package family name alone is not a yardage specification.
Keep a simple continuous fill when practical
Polyflex is a mono main line, so an anti-slip mono base is not needed merely because braid sometimes needs one. A full fill can avoid an unnecessary backing connection.
Compare refill and bulk packages by product code
The larger packages also change length with strength. Estimate the planned number of reel fills, allowing for trimming, rather than multiplying every strength by the longest advertised package.

Polyflex questions, answered
Is Polyflex a fluorocarbon-coated line?
The reviewed Gamma Ultra Clear source identifies it as copolymer fishing line. It does not establish a fluorocarbon coating, so this guide does not claim one.
Why is the legacy 15 lb Polyflex absent?
The official U.S. size sequence includes 14 and 17 lb, not 15 lb. Their existing identities are preserved; the unsupported 15 lb record is held out of this page.
Are all Polyflex fillers 330 yards?
No. Length decreases with the selected strength. A 10 lb filler is 300 yards and a 20 lb filler is 275 yards in the reviewed Ultra Clear table.
How much Polyflex fits my reel?
Use the selected Polyflex diameter with your reel's published capacity. Pound test is a product strength label, not a universal diameter. Stop filling at the reel manufacturer's recommended level.
Does Polyflex require backing?
Backing is optional for a full mainline fill. It can make sense under a shorter fresh working section, but the connection must stay below normal casting depth with enough reserve for runs and retying.
